The novel, "I am Malala," will detail the 15 year old's life as an advocate for women's education.

"I want to tell my story, but it will also be the story of 61m children who can't get an education," Yousafzai said. " I want it to be part of the campaign to give every boy and girl the right to go to school. It is their basic right."

The book will be published by Commonwealth, Little,Brown, and Weidenfield & Nicholson.

Ann Tahsin, the deputy publishing director for Weidenfield & Nicholson, said :

"This book will be a document to bravery, courage, and vision. Malala is so young to have experienced so much and I have no doubt that her story will be an inspiration to readers from all generations who believe in the right to education and the freedom to pursue it."

Celebrities support Education in Girl Rising

A-List celebrities joined forces for Education in the documentary Girl Rising.

Celebrities included in the film are: Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Selena Gomez, and Kerry Washington.

The documentary, directed by Richard E. Robbins, featured nine girls from developing countries who were not allowed an education.

The girls in the film are from Cambodia, Peru, Nepal, Egypt, Haiti, Sierra Leone,Ethiopia, and Afghanistan.

The film also has a social campaign, led by 10x10, that allows fans to request screenings of the film in their local theaters.

"When people see the film, I hope they will think we have told each story from the girl's point of view and through the lens of the writer who has grown up in the country they are writing about. There is very little judgement and these girls don't feel sorry for themselves, but they do grow up in a world that is limiting for them," said 10x10 Creative Director Holly Gordon.

Over 450 screenings have been requested to date.

Obama announces new gun proposals

President Barack Obama announced proposals to ban assault weapons and to hold mandatory background checks for all gun buyers on Wednesday.

"We can't put this off any longer," Obama said to an audience that included relatives of Sandy Hook victims.

The National Rifle Association disagree with the effectiveness of Obama's proposals and plan to work against them.

The association released a statement saying,

"Attacking firearms and ignoring children is not a solution to the crisis we face as a nation. Only honest law-abiding gun owners will be affected and our children will remain vulnerable to the inevitability of more tragedy."

The president also has announced 23 steps he will take immediately without the approval of Congress.

He plans to improve background checks, revive federal research on gun violence, and put more resource officers in schools.
