China's Yu Wenxia became Miss World on Saturday.

Wenxia is the 2nd Chinese women to become Miss World.

The 23-year-old has hopes to become a music teacher.

"When I was young I felt very lucky because so many people helped me, and i hope in the future I can help more children to feel lucky," she said.

Over 1 billion people tuned in to watch Wenxia take the crown.

Chen Guangcheng, the blind Chinese activist who escaped to the US Embassy last month, is making progress to study in the United States.

Guangcheng completed his passport application on Wednesday and is ready for travel. He plans to study at New York University as a visiting student.

The blind activist escaped house arrest in Shandong last month and made his way to the US Embassy, and left after being told that his wife would be beaten to death if he refused.

Guangcheng originally agreed to relocate to another Chinese city to study, but changed his mind after feeling threatened by Chinese officials.

Chinese activist Chen Guangcheng pleaded with Congress to help him escape to the United States.

"I want to meet with Secretary Clinton. I hope I can get more help from her," Chen said.

Chen initially agreed to remain in China, but changed his mind after being reunited with his family in a Beijing hospital.

U.S. officials have not commented on any future plans with Guangcheng.

Chen Guangcheng, a Chinese blind activist, left the US Embassy today after being told that Chinese authorities would beat his wife to death if he refused.

"They said if I don't leave they would take my children and my family back to Shandong," Chen said.

Guangcheng fled to the US Embassy after being held under house arrest for 18 months in Shandong.

After being reunited with his family, Chen now fears for his safety and is pleading with US officials for protection and a way out of the country.
