Mary J. Blige to play Malcolm X's Wife

Mary J. Blige is all set to play Malcom X's wife in a new TV drama.

The show is called Parallel Lives and will document the lives of Betty Shabazz and Coretta Scott King, wives of Malcom X and Martin Luther King Jr.

"I'm playing Betty and prepping for that now. I've been studying her online and watching her interviews." she told WENN.

The singer recently made the news for a controversial commercial and was accused of mismanaging charity finances.

She will make her big-screen debut as a leading lady in the film, 'The Rock of Ages' on June 15.

Filming for Parallel Lives begins in September.
