Eugene Polley, TV remote inventor, dies
Eugene Polley, the man responsible for the TV remote, has died.
Polley created a gun shaped remote control that came with a Zenith television and was deemed the 'Flash Matic'.
Robert Doherty, CEO of market research company Envisioneering, praised Polley's invention.
"Without his invention you might not have gotten the Internet," he said." It allowed you to go beyond the physical dial. It set the pace for dozens [of] follow-on inventions that go beyond the physical."
Polley died of natural causes in a Chicago hospital.
He was 96.
