Valentino sold for $858 million

Italian fashion house Valentino was sold for $858 million to the Qatari royal family on Thursday.

"It's the kind of thing that fits in well with Qatar: iconic, quality brands, with a long-term value and an appealing customer base," said economics analyst Rachel Zeimba.

The brand, founded in 1960, is most known for their striking red dresses.

Valentino's CEO, Stefano Sassi, is 'delighted' and believes that this development will 'maximize the potential of the Valentino brand.'
