FAMU marching band suspended for another year
FAMU President James Ammons announched that FAMU's famed marching band will remain suspended for another year.
FAMU made the news last year when Robert Champion, a 26 year old band member, was killed during a hazing ritual on a bus.
Eleven people are facing felony hazing charges, and two others are facing misdemeanors for his death.
The suspension of the prestigious band is a huge loss for FAMU, but students are more concerned with getting rid of hazing on campus.
"What do we do in that one year process to make sure these things do not happen again?" asked band member Travis Roberts. "We lack consistency at times, and this is something that needs to change. . .No one has taken responsibility for what has happened. This thing didn't start only five years ago. This thing has happened for the past 50 years."
